Baila - A Latin Dance Party

Every Putumayo compilation is like an adventure in world culture, giving you a glimpse of musical traditions both common and obscure. Although they do a great job cherry-picking the exotic cuts they feature on their various albums, the label really shines when it comes to Latin music. Like their album SALSA AROUND THE WORLD, BAILA - A LATIN DANCE PARTY is once again showcasing Latin dance from a global perspective; though this time it not just salsa, but meringue, cumbia and mambo as well. The colorful collective of artists featured includes Congolese artist Ricardo Lemvo (displaying that strong, often forgotten Afro-Latin connection), New York-based Spanish Harlem Orchestra, Cuban singer Raul Paz and more, with Belguim, Argentina and Colombia as a few of the additional ports of call.
