Blues Lounge

Blues music, that bastion of gritty reality and human suffering, is getting… fun? Hard to believe, but the blues is seeing a renaissance, where the classic rootsy rock sound fuses with the world of groove. Mean guitars meet trip hop beats, guttural vocals are bathed in synthesizer atmosphere and distorted techno effects… it's an interesting hybrid of two vastly different musical styles. This compilation from Putumayo highlights some of the more exciting artists to walk down this path. Included are Moby with his Southern blues homage "Run On," Tangle Eye with a pair of tracks themed after the music of folk legend Alan Lomax, Little Axe's unique electro-blues sound and more.
